11.01.2009 – Other Services Affected – Belgian Railways Seem to be Difficult Throughout

Bergland Express, a charter train connecting the Netherlands, and previously Belgium, with Austrian ski resorts, no longer serves Brussels because of problems with the Belgian railways:

“As a consequence of the inflexible attitude the Belgian Railways has towards the Bergland Expres we have been forced to take a route around Belgium instead of through Belgium. We have decided on this to ensure a stable product. We would like to invite all passengers that in the past boarded in Belgium to board our train in Aachen Hbf, this is shortly over the Belgian-German border.”

27.10.2008 – MEPs Write to CEOs of Railway Companies to Complain

Michael Cramer, a German Green MEP writes an open letter to the CEOs of the German, Belgian and French Railways. The open letter has scores of signatories. The letter complains about the withdrawal of the night train and urges the railway companies to reinstate it.
